Update v1.1 - Patch Notes

Hey everyone! It’s been a while. A massive new update for Heater Kicker just came out, with lots of brand new content, gameplay, TWO NEW BOSSES, Quality of Life tweaks, balancing changes, and more! Prepare for a long and detailed post about every new thing added in this update. If you just want a quick summary of all this update brings, you can read the changelog by scrolling to the bottom, or reading it in-game.

So, what’s new?

Let’s start with an entirely new system: EVENTS.

Events are very short and fun minigames, which start upon reaching a certain Kick Milestone. They are an efficient way to earn Kicks and Nuclear Material, which is a brand new currency (more on that later). There is a total of three events and one miniboss. I will only show you one, though. No spoilers (the image above).

You can pick up rewards from Events at the Post Office. The Post Office also informs you when a new Event starts, so keep yourself POST-ed (I’m not sorry).

Next up, I’d like to talk about a new feature which makes the grind faster, and prevents any uncomfortable health problems to your fingers: WORKERS.

Workers are essentially low-tier AutoKickers, which are mainly used to earn Kicks in early to mid game. If you’ve ever played Cookie Clicker before, Workers are the same thing as Cursors or Grandmas. They produce a certain amount of points in a certain amount of time. You can hire them at Secretary Jane’s Employment Office for Kicks. If you hire a lot of them, you can start earning Kicks very quickly.

The next thing that’ll make your experience a lot sweeter is PROFESSOR ZION’S NUCLEAR REACTOR OF RESTORATION.

Professor Zion’s Nuclear Reactor of Restoration is a place where you can Restore or Redo past experiences, for the cost of Nuclear material - the game’s new currency. You can redo Events here, and yes, you get awarded for them again. You can play the same event as many times as you’d like, and you’ll still get a reward. All characters in the game have been given a brand new look, instead of the old black hoodie and jeans. You can restore the old look too, if you’d like. Since it’s been requested a lot, the game has L O R E now, and you can learn more about the game’s backstory by restoring the Sacred book of the World’s fate for 80 nuclear material.

How do you gain Nuclear Material?

Nuclear Material is obtained by Winning in Events, unlocking certain achievements or by reaching Kick milestones. If you accidentally run out of Nuclear Material and are afraid you’ve softlocked yourself, fear not. If you spelunk deep into the mines, you’ll meet Tony the Miner, who mines out Nuclear Material for you every 10 minutes.

The next thing isn’t new, but it’s a fix for a MAJOR BUG which surfaced in the last version of the game. That bug was Save Directory not generating. It’s fixed now and the new Save System is a lot more optimized and generally works better than last time. Sorry for any trouble this has caused you!

And now, it’s finally time to reveal my personal favourite: the BRAND NEW BOSS.

In order to summon Heatlord, you now need to not only make him feel serious Wrath, but also kill The Food Reaper. However, The Food Reaper doesn’t roam the Earth. His soul is back in Hell. Which is why you have to Curse someone in order to summon him. Once the curse works its magic and that person mutates, you will take control of a Trapped Soul in a Binding-of-Isaac-like Dungeon, and fight your way to the Boss Fight.

This is where the interesting part comes: The entire Boss Fight’s difficulty is RNG-based. That’s right. Based on what Randomly Generated abilities you get in the dungeon. There is however a luck system, which on very rare occasions DOUBLES the level of an ability. I’m very interested in what you guys think about this Boss Fight.

And a very small thing for last: HEATLORD SUPPLY DROPS.

A lot of people have been finding the Final Boss Fight to be a never-ending chore, because you just never seem to earn money fast enough. So, I came to the rescue with Supply Drops! Supply Drops occasionally fall throughout the Boss Fight, and if you catch them, they give you lots of money! Be sure to be on the lookout for them!

I would also like to quickly mention that the game has a Proper Ending now, with an emotional cutscene and a credits sequence.

And that’s about it for all the big features and changes. You can find everything in the changelog, including small stuff I haven’t mentioned. But before you go, scroll all the way down. I would like to address this game’s future, before you leave.

Hopefully I didn’t forget anything! Now, I’d like to quickly address the future of Heater Kicker as a whole. This update was made with much love and care, and took way longer to make than I originally anticipated. This update is most likely the last BIG update for the game. I will still make bug fixes and maybe some small additions here and there, but in terms of anything big, it’s probably time to say goodbye. I appreciate all the suggestions and feedback I’ve been given, and I’m excited to make more games!

Have a nice day, ChorcheKork.
